7 Tips for Packing JUST a Carry-On

The past two years, John and I have traveled a ton and have managed to pack in just a carry-on. Yup. YA HEARD. How did we do it? How is it possible? How can you do it too?

I’ve got you covered friends! ;) Here are some of my tips for packing light!

PACK VERSATILE CLOTHES
Stick with neutrals so it makes matching and putting outfits together a lot easier. Choose three colors so you can mix and match. I bring one to two pairs of jeans (dark denim and black) if we are going for a 4-7 day trip and about 3-5 tops.

PACK WHAT YOU NEED
It’s easy to get carried away and go overboard and pack a bunch of clothes and shoes. Narrow down your pieces and lay out your clothes for your trip so you can physically see what you’re bringing with you.

ROLL YOUR CLOTHES
This saves a ton of room if you’re packing in a backpack and helps your clothes not wrinkle as much. If you’re worried about your clothes getting wrinkled, you can pack some wrinkle release spray.

PACK TRAVEL SIZE ITEMS
I do a quick Target before our trip to pick up: shampoo, conditioner, dry shampoo, face wash, body wash, tooth paste, floss, and hand lotion.

USE POUCHES TO STAY ORGANIZED
I have about two pouches that have one with my toiletries and the other with my make up on it. In my make up bag I keep it simple and pack: concealer, setting powder, brushes, lipstick and mascara & eyelash curler. Sometimes I’ll bring another pouch and put lady products inside and medicine.

WEAR BULKIEST ITEMS
On the plane/car I’ll wear my sneakers and chunky cardigan so I have plenty of room in my carry on. In my carryon I’ll add another pair of shoes [if needed/depending on what we will be doing].

BRING A PURSE
My last hack is to bring a tote/purse and this is where I put my pouches, books, headphones, snacks, chargers, and all the other travel necessities :)

I hope this helps you pack lighter for your next trip & happy traveling! :)
