Austin, TX | Travel Guide

I've lived in Austin for 23 years so I'd like to think I know all about where to go, what to do, where to eat, and things to do hehe. And whenever someone asks me, "I'm going to Austin! What should I do?" or "What are your favorite things to do in Austin?" I get PUMPED!

So here are some of my favorite Austiny spots + hangs...and for all you Instagrammers, I've even included some great spots to get the perfect Instagram photo ;)

Hiking - The Greenbelt, Lost Creek, Perdenales Falls, McKinny falls. All these places are dog friendly and perfect to cool off during the summer time!
Running - Town Lake Trail (for all you fit people)
Outdoor Fun - Throw a frisbee, play fetch with your dog, take a Monday night outdoor yoga class, watch a show at the outdoor theater, swim in the pool or the creek, eat a hot dog, or hula hoop!

Barton Springs
The Greenbelt
Lady Bird Lake

Piknik - this is one of my new favorite spots! THEY HAVE THE BEST QUESO EVER! It's vegan and if you're like me you're like what the heck why would someone do that to queso, y''s incredible and you can't even tell.
Flower Child - everything is so fresh here and their lemonade is BOMB! My go to is the Mother Earth bowl. It's so fresh!
Honest Mary's - this is similar to Flower Child and is a combination of Chipotle (build your own bowl) kinda deal. It's super yummy too!
Whole Foods - a grocery story/coffee shop/winery/all your needs. The North Lamar location has a roof top that you can hang out on :)
Central Market - okay this is another grocery store hang out and I realize that's probably weird to people who aren't from Austin haha but it's also a cafe as well!

Chicon - one of my favorite hangs! They have an awesome burger + fries!
Contigo - a great patio and perfect spots for drinks
Le Politeque - okay this place is super dreamy and it's more on the pricer side BUT their food is phenomenal and they have an affordable happy hour!
Juliet Italian Kitchen - enjoy a nice cocktail on their patio!

Lazarus - this is where John and I usually go for date night or for coffee dates! They have beer, coffee, wine, and you guessed it...TACOS!
Brew & Brew - coffee + beer brews
Zilker Brewery - fun spot to hang out with friends & your pup!

P. Terry's - obsessed with their french fries & their special sauce. Soooo good.
Hop Doddy's - a classic when you come to Austin!
Pool Burger - this is a fun tiki inspired burger stand right by the lake & Deep Eddys!

Hillside Farmacy - dangerously good french fries and a great happy hour! We do our weekly date nights here and the ambiance is great too!
Josephine House -such a cute place to hang with the gals and sip mimosas!
Tiny Boxwood's - Houston peeps, you get this. It's amazing! I am always craving their chocolate chip cookies!
Grizzelda's - another super spot to hang with your gals!

Torchy's Tacos - top choice! I always get the fried avocado or the democrat and their queso is life changing.
Taco Deli - my go to is the carne ansada or the cowboy and of course I HAVE to get their queso.
Takoba - I love their el pastor taco with rice and beans here! So yummy! And they have great margs! It's a fun place to hang out on the patio and watch the game.
