Living on TAPA the World: First Two Weeks Living in Barcelona!

Wow! I can’t believe we have been LIVING in Barcelona for two weeks already! The time has flown by and has been so sweet!! I wanted to share a little life update with ya!

We are currently staying in an Airbnb with our Barcelona team and John & I will move into our own apartment July 1st! (We have been living with our friends from January-May and we have moved back in with each other during this transition of finding our own apartments!) Praise God for His provision in this! It has been so great to be reunited with our friends after a month living apart from each other. :)

We decided to spend our first week living in Barcelona fasting, praying and seeking after The Lord. So in doing so, we disconnected from our phones (no texting, calls, social media, etc) and spent time with The Lord and resting in HIS desires for the city.

Each morning we spent time abiding and listening to The Lord. Then we would gather in our *tiny* living room to pray. Some of the things we prayed over: that people would have freedom, community in Barcelona, for comfort + rest for the people who are hurting, and a whole lot of other good stuff.

After praying as a team, we went out to different neighborhoods around Barcelona (about one or two each day) and prayed over that specific neighborhood. Then we went back to the airbnb and spent time in fellowship together, abiding and then would end the evening with a delicious dinner with one another. (Perks of being roommates again with your chef friends hehe)

Here’s a recap of just some of the amazing things The Lord has done since moving here:

  • Connections with local believers -  We had dinner with some local Christians here who have a heart for reaching the lost in Spain. We spent time encouraging one another and coming up with ways to care for people here who have been hurt by the Catholic church/religion and how we can best care for them and meet their needs.

  • Stirring of the Spirit in hearts -  We have met a lot of people who were receptive to prayer. As a team we have gotten to share how Jesus has changed our lives with people we have met playing soccer (John not me haha), our waiters and people in coffee shops! We are excited to see what God is going to do!

  • Attended a Filipino church -  John had met a guy named Mark while playing soccer and asked Mark if he could pray for him. Mark told John that he also loves Jesus and invited us to his Filipino church that following Sunday. It was so incredible to watch another culture praise and worship God. We are in awe of what God is doing!

  • Underlying peace since being here - One night while John and I were doing a little date night, he looked at me and said how much Barcelona feels like home and I couldn’t agree more! Jesus has been so gracious in taking care of us and providing every step of the way - from the support of our friends and families back home, financial provision, our team, and what He’s done in the first two weeks living here. We both started to reflect back on our lives and see how this has been a part of God’s plan from the very beginning. Every morning when we wake up, we experience true joy and belonging here. :)

Prayer Requests for these next two weeks:
Community in Spain -
 Please pray that God will continue to connect us to more believers here in Spain so our community will grow :)
Apartment Process - God has provided us with a wonderful apartment that we looove so much! (it comes furnished too!) However, since the culture here is more laid back, the process has been a bit more difficult. Please pray for patience, peace, and guidance.

Here is a verse we have been clinging to this season:
"But those who trust in The Lord will renew their strength; they will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not become weary, they will walk and not faint." -Isaiah 40:31
