Trusting God in the Unknown

Questions I get asked a lot: “how long are you going to live in Spain?” “when are y’all going to have kids?” “are you going to have kids overseas?” “where are you going to live when your lease is up in a few weeks?”

⁣The daunting list of questions goes on. I’m a planner by nature. I love having a Plan A, Plan B and Plan C but looking back, NOTHING has gone according to “my plan.” I wanted to stay in Austin my whole life, but God said Barcelona needs the gospel. I wanted to be a full time photographer, but God said stop chasing money. I wanted to live this comfortable lifestyle, but God said live amongst the those who are struggling and who are different than you, they’re you’re neighbors too and they’re My children. ⁣

So when people ask me questions, God’s been teaching that it’s okay to not have answers to their questions. He’s teaching me that I don’t have to have a five year game plan because He’s got my whole life planned out. He’s teaching me to go with the flow and to trust in His plan and in His perfect timing. And He’s teaching me to be thankful and trusting in Him no matter what my circumstances are. Because that my friends, is faith.

My heart takes a whole lot of rest in that. (Depends what day you ask me on though ;) still working on it)⁣

⁣So maybe you’re like lil’ ol me, maybe you’re in a weird-in-between-what-the-heck-am-I-doing phase in your life. I wanted to share with you some of my favorite verses that I cling to when I feel stuck, discouraged, hopeless, worried, etc. And my prayer is that you too will find hope in these Truths! You’re not alone, friend.

  • “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” -Hebrews 11:1

  • “The Lord is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him.” -Psalms 28:7

  • “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?” -Matthew 6:25

  • “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” -Romans 8:28

  • “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” -Joshua 1:9

  • “Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act. He will bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday.” -Psalm 37:4-6

  • “Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act.” -Psalm 37:5

  • “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” -Isaiah 41:10

  • “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” -Philippians 4:6-7

These have been some of my favorite verses that I find myself reciting & reminding myself when my heart is struggling with trusting God in the unknown. Write these verses down somewhere where you can see them and be reminded of them daily. :)
